At The Dirty Easel we believe in developing a strong community. We build community by bringing people together to paint, to share creative ideas, to laugh, to drink, to socialize, to find new friends… And we also want to support the larger community around us. Come paint with us at our fundraiser this month.
We are often asked if we offer family friendly events. This is a great opportunity to do something creative together with the whole family. $15 of every ticket sold will benefit the Capital Area Parkinson’s Society. If you are dealing with Parkinson’s or the stress of having someone in your family being afflicted by Parkinson’s painting together can have a therapeutic effect. Because finding your flow in painting is very soothing and relaxing and it enables you to express yourself.
You don’t have to be a member of the Capital Area Parkinson’s Society to participate in this event and show your support.
We want to help honor our teachers and express our gratitude for the hard work teachers do all year. Whenever you buy 2 Dirty Easel gift certificates for a teacher we will add a third one for FREE.
As the end of the school year is approaching many parents are in need of finding the right gift to express gratitude for our teachers. We rely on them as they help us shape our kids’ lives. A gift certificate with The Dirty Easel is a great way to say thank you. Painting is very relaxing, calming as well as energizing. Since all year long our teachers are giving to others, why not honor them by allowing them to spend time for themselves, to refuel their creativity?
We are very thrilled about our newest painting location – Mr. Tramps. Mr. Tramps is a sports bar and café that is very engaged in the arts and its neighborhood community. Here you find local artists, musicians, comedians, actors, game designers, tech geeks who come to hang out or make art together. One night you might run into opera singers singing Karaoke, or people sitting around a model and drawing, or you walk into a cartoon competition. This is a great artistic environment and we are so excited to be part of it.
Mark you calendar for our first painting event at Mr. Tramps: April 21st , 7 p.m.
I am very happy to announce our newest location: the Toybrary, Austin. Here you can rent toys, just like in a library. This is a great place for us to host parent-kid painting events because it is a very playful environment. Lots of toys are waiting outside the painting area to be discovered. It is a great spot for play and art to meet.
Try out our first event March 7th, where parents and kids come together to paint.
We are very happy to announce a new location and partner: the toybrary, Austin.
Starting on March 7th 2015 we will host painting events for families that will be an hour long. Rarely can kids and parents share an activity where they are equal partners. Kids love to see their parents being engaged in painting while they proudly work on their own piece of art. That is why each kid and each parent paints their own canvas. It is a blast to be creative together, to inspire one another. With a little bit of help and some tips from our Creative Inspirant everybody will have their own painting on canvas to bring home. We bring aprons, paint, easels, canvas, and all kinds of painting tools. And – a special treat for the parents – we also do the clean up.
Age: recommended for children 3 years and older
Price: $20 per painter. Parent(s) and kid(s) both have to sign up.
On December 30th 2014 we have a special painting event at BB Rover’s. We are painting a good-bye to the year 2014.
What feelings do you have about 2014? Was it a year of wild, crazy brush strokes or was your 2014 more like neat pink dots over the ocean? Was it a year of dreams and clouds, or orderly stripes, or hungry snakes? Was the background of your year 2014 bright yellow, pastel green, or violet black?
Wrap up 2014, pour it on canvas and get ready to open the door to 2015 – a white, blank, and untouched canvas.

“I think I’m now addicted to the Dirty Easel method of painting!”
Dawn Ambuehl-Sadek
“I really enjoyed the creative energy that flowed through the room.(…) I have never seen our group look happier than when they were working on their individual and unique canvas”
Sandra Bouldwin
“This was a super fun experience and I can’t wait to do it again! Painting without a plan is relaxing, fun, and much less stressful than comparing your painting to the artist teaching and everyone else’s canvas in the room.”
